"It's vital to have the right equipment. Most salons use only two sets of scissors, but we use four.

We have one called the Barracudas (pictured), another is called Deltas, we have texturising scissors and then the two types of normal scissors that we have.

We also have serrated scissors and Japanese samurai swords scissors. These scissors are sharper than surgeons' scissors. When you cut skin it pinches but when you cut hair it is protein so has to be sharper.

We also use top-of-the-range clippers that are quieter and don't get so hot. We have the smallest hairdryers on the market so we don't have to use big and heavy driers. In fact, it's fair to say that whatever comes out we are quick to acquire the tools that are at the forefront of technology."
